Allied Health Assistant
Program
What is an Allied Health Assistant?
An Allied Health Assistant (AHA) operates under the close supervision of allied health professionals. They assist clients by executing therapy programs recommended by Speech Pathologists. An AHA holds either a certificate-level qualification in allied health assistance or is undergoing university training to become an allied health professional.
What does a session with an Allied Health Assistant look like?
An AHA session can look very similar to a speech pathology session from the outside looking in. Our AHA will work with your child to complete targeted activities to work towards their speech pathology goals, guided by a personalised treatment plan constructed by your overseeing speech pathologist.
How our AHA Program Works
Initial Assessment + Goal Setting ($193.99/hr)- an individualised assessment completed by a qualified speech pathologist to assess current support needs, determine goals and discuss suitability for the AHA program.
Therapy Program Writing ($193.99/hr) - if the AHA program has been deemed suitable your speech pathologist then completes a personalised Therapy Program which outlines your child’s goals and provides a specific framework for your AHA to implement within your individual sessions.
Commence AHA Sessions- You then begin regular sessions with your AHA implementing the activities and goals outlined within the Therapy Program to assist your child in achieving their individual speech pathology goals. Your AHA will access regular and ongoing clinical supervision with
Review Process ($193.99/hr) - After 3-6 months, if not clinically indicated sooner, your child will complete a review assessment with your overseeing speech pathologist to discuss goals progress, determine any ongoing goals. Recommence Stages 2 + 3 if required or begin discharge and monitoring stage if all identified goals have been met.
Our AHA Program Support Fees
Our AHA program offers a sustainable option to access speech pathology support. Supports are claimable under NDIS and aa standard AHA session is charged at a rate of 1.25 hours. This is inclusive of 45 minutes of direct face to face contact with the client and an additional 30 minutes of indirect non-face to face (NF2F) time within each appointment.
Our allocated NF2F time allows for
